Summary: The goal of this study is to understand the organizing of “doing” management in an Art & Culture Nucleus of a federal public school. We believe that there are mutual contributions between the organizational processes of the Nucleus and School Management and that we can reveal such contributions from the approach of practice as a lens. This approach enable us to study the practices and their possible effects on the nucleus school management. We emphasize that studies focused on the relevance of daily school management are relatively recent and depart from the contributions of Practice Based Studies to foster discussions about management from a less traditional perspective. Our research, anchored in a qualitative approach, combines data production methods divided into two phases. At the first phase, we use a documentary research and projective interviews as ways to present the Art and Culture Nucleus, an organ with more than ten years of history which objectives the development of the cultural policy of the studied school. At the second phase, we articulate practice approach to the study of school management daily notion of the school management through a participant observation. We conclude that in the first moment the organizing of practices in the implantation of the NAC takes place on the union of a formal front, represented by the Extension Coordination and an informal front, formed by a group of people interested in developing artistic and cultural activities in the school. Then there is the development of a "doing" of this organ that establishes a meaning beyond the two fronts that formed the nucleus and characterize this organ as an organizing sector of artistic and cultural activities for the school community. Our research contributed to the approach of practice as a lens, exploring a locus of research little treated in the organizational studies, the management of art and culture, for the development of this organ to support the extension and management of the school studied.
